I hope my last startup read through your blog before they started to "ape" Spotify practices.

Our leadership became obsessed with the squad model and the stream aligned concept, except that there was real lack of product leadership and there was chaos all around. Would love to hear your thoughts on whether a Spotify model would work in a company without strong product leadership or product owner?

I joined the startup after my stint at Amazon. So, we operated in a more "amazonian" way with focus on single threaded ownership and velocity. It meant we tried to build our services instead of asking others to build, loosely aligned ourselves to other organizations without taking too many dependencies and followed an OKR model with goals agreed for a quarterly basis.

Thoughts on amazon vs Spotify models? I used what worked for me, but also don't want to be blindfolded to other approaches.
